When I moved to Squamish in 2005, I knew that I had found the perfect place to marry my love for “all things pretty” with my love for the planet.  Thus, Agnes Jean Boutique, a one-stop lifestyle shop for the conscious consumer was conceived.

Who is Agnes Jean?
Agnes Jean was born in 1919 on a farm in rural southern Ontario.  At the age of 10, she met Wally, the farmhand, who helped the family maintain life on the farm.  Wally and Agnes (always known as Jean) fell deeply in love.  They decided to keep their love a secret until after Wally returned from the War.  Upon his return, they married and raised 5 sons.  One of which is my Dad. 

My Dad and Mom both love the outdoors immensely and so a deep appreciation for nature was instilled in me at a young age.  I grew up in a very small country town where I was an avid outdoor kid: camping, canoeing and always around mud.  I also grew an affinity for fashion and style due to my first job in a small children’s clothing boutique. It was here that I realized that someday I wanted my own store.

Being the first born granddaughter, my Grandma Jean and I share a special bond. Always an inspiration, Agnes (Jean) continues to play an important role in my life, and I love her very much. 

In October, 2006, Agnes Jean Boutique was opened. At Agnes Jean, sustainability is my core value and I strive to consciously build and support sustainable practices into every aspect of how I do business.  All of my designers and manufacturers are researched to the best of my ability to ensure that their production methods support our natural environment.

With encouragement and support from family and friends, especially from my sister Christine, my dream of Agnes Jean Boutique became a reality.
